About
Welcome to the ChessWiki, a free, open-access chess encyclopedia built to help players of all levels elevate their game.
Whether you are trying to master complex pawn structures, sharpen your opening theory, or find the perfect training exercises to fit into your busy routine, ChessWiki is designed to be your ultimate digital training partner. We also review and recommend the absolute best chess tools and resources out there, saving you the guesswork so you can focus entirely on your calculation.
Our Story
ChessWiki was founded by FM Vidar Grahn with a simple realization: while there is an overwhelming amount of chess information on the web, finding structured, high-quality, and practical training advice in one place shouldn't cost a fortune.
Right now, ChessWiki is in its early stages, built from the ground up to lay down a solid foundation of high-level chess concepts. But the ultimate goal isn't for this to be a one-man show.
Our ambition is to make ChessWiki completely community-driven!
Shape the Future of the Wiki
We don't believe in gatekeeping chess knowledge behind heavy paywalls. We want to build an open, living resource that thrives on the collaborative spirit of players who love the game.
To turn this vision into reality, ChessWiki is partnering closely with The Chess University Discord server. As we launch and grow, the goal is for the folks in the community to help refine, expand, and update this encyclopedia together.
Whether you want to suggest a new article, discuss training techniques, or just analyze your recent games with like-minded players, you can get in on the ground floor right now.
